Greetings Therapist is an independent directory of personal interviews with mental health providers in local communities.
My name is Renee, and I am a Long Beach resident, a 2010 graduate of the CSULB master's program in Marriage and Family Therapy, a former university and nonprofit executive, a Boston College graduate, and, for the last 16 years, an independent grant writer and stay-at-home mom to three children who are now teenagers. I started Greetings Therapist, an online directory (podcast and website) of audio interviews of mental health providers in our community, for two reasons. The first is to help people find "the right" therapist, not "a therapist." You can find "a therapist" easily--there are countless directories with pictures and bios just a few clicks away. But finding "the right therapist" remains difficult because what makes therapy amazing and often life changing is the special, connected relationship a client can have with a therapist. Our interviews will give potential clients a peak at who the therapist is--before making that first consultation call. The second purpose of this project is to help my fellow therapists share about who they are and what they have offer to the community in a meaningful way. There is something intriguing about the interview format. From masters like Oprah, Larry King, and TIm Ferriss to the every day HR interviewers--we always learn something in an interview--the conversational back and forth, the laughs, the tone of voice often provide more information than the words themselves.
I hope you will enjoy our work here. You will note that none of our interviews can be "liked" or commented on. Greetings Therapist is intended to be a high-quality, respectful resource that supports the dignity of all visitors. Thank you for visiting!
